It’s a tremendous choice for taking pharmacy technician as a career. They are cosmopolitan, especially in the United States they are much in demand. As the need is growing day by day, their pay scale is also growing at an alarming rate. Usually people baffled with the pharmacists and the pharmacy technician. Then let me tell you that these two are the entirely different occupations. As in the former you need a special qualification that is Bachelor or masters in pharmacy followed by the PhD whereas in latter you don’t require any special degree.

According to the statistics of the 2010, the remuneration of a pharmacy technician per hour on an average is $14.10. However a pharmacy technician works 2,080 a year which makes its yearly income $29,330 on an average.

But there is a huge difference between the Pharmacy technicians salary of the high cadre and the low cadre. Because as lower tenth percentile gets $9.54 per hour whereas higher ones get $19.57 for the same time. So this created the difference of $ 20,330 between their pay scales per annum.

But to have a good earning certification from a good training institute is necessary. To become a skilled technician, they need to join a good institute where they can be able to learn. They have different sources of earning like pharmacy colleges and training institutes. In starting they can work for 10-12 hours however experienced pharmacy technicians don’t need too much work for better income.

What is the occupation demand?

You have to assist the pharmacist as well as take care of the patients medications with him. Pharmacists have the license to work anywhere whereas pharmacy technicians have to work in medical stores, hospitals etc. Their job is to do some list work of prescription on the computer or may be labelling bottles. It is not like that pharmacy technician always remains a technician whole life. With the gain in experience he would also work in the chemotherapy and nuclear therapy field. And as the experience grows pharmacy technician salary also grows.

In case you want to work and earn independently, then you need an authentic and proper licensing. It certifies that you are a skilled technician and capable of handling patients. Their salaries also vary a lot on the basis of their experience as well as location of the workplace. There falls a difference of $1 between the income of grocery and departmental stores per hour. You can earn extra income if you are interested in working overtimes and on weekends. Although they usually need to work 24/7 in this profession. Distribution of medicines, keeping record of patients, labelling and many other things they need to learn. Sometimes they are also required to do out of their job work, which often makes them feel dejected. So as the work is not less similarly there pay is also good. In the starting you will get $7-8 per hour and with passing years you reach to $14-15 per hour.

In foreign countries there are many states like Alaska, California, Columbia, Hawaii, Oregon and many more who are among the highest paying sates to these pharmacist technicians.  On the other hand Ohio, Mississippi, Virgin Islands, western Virginia is the few states who pay less to these professionals.
